Film, in addition to radio and television, are mediums where by programs are broadcast through various channels. Hollywood has produced many stars who are worshipped as idols by their adoring fans.
The entertainment industry could have devised any number of terms to describe what they do. It is interesting how each of these terms, medium, broadcast, channel, program, idol, stars, also have occult significance, even the name itself, Hollywood, also known as "Tinseltown", and its association with Los Angeles. Let's look at a few of those terms now.
Hollywood: Holly is associated with dreams and the subconscious and is regarded as a symbol of fertility and eternal life. In various branches of magic wood from the holly tree is thought to have magical powers and is commonly used as a divine focus when casting spells. Energetically, holly is believed to help open the heart and awaken compassion. The Romans associated holly with Saturn, the god of agriculture and harvest, and decked their halls with its boughs during the festival of Saturnalia, celebrated December 17th to December 23rd. In some traditions of Wicca, the Holly King is one of the faces of the Sun God.
Tinsel: A form of decoration consisting of thin strips of shiny metal foil; tinsel can also referring to a showy or superficial attractiveness or glamour.
Glamour: In magic, glamour is a spell or illusion that is cast on a person or object to make them more attractive or powerful. In folklore, it is often used to describe a way for "magical creatures" to compel others to do their will by making themselves appear more attractive or powerful.
Medium: An agency or means of doing something; a means by which something is communicated or expressed. In the occult, a medium is a person who is believed to be able to communicate with the spirit world, often while in a trance. Mediums are thought to act as an intermediary between the living and the dead, allowing spirits to speak through them or relay messages.
Channel: A medium for communication or the passage of information. Channelling is the act or practice of serving as a medium through which a spirit guide communicates with living persons.
Broadcast: To sow (seed) over a large area. To communicate, transmit, a signal, message, or program to numerous recipients simultaneously over a network.
Television: A system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens, chiefly used to broadcast programs for entertainment, information, and education. From: tele 'at a distance" + vision. Spiritually, a vision is something seen in the imagination or in the supernatural. The purpose of a vision is to provide a sense of purpose and direction. A vision is often a long-term plan that sets goals to help achieve a desired outcome. Often created by someone in a leadership role, such as a director or an executive, to help their team, or followers, get excited about where they are going.
Transmit: To cause (something) to pass on from one place or person to another. Spiritual transmission is the imparting or sharing of spiritual energy, or realization from one person to another. It involves a transfer of spiritual qualities or states of consciousness that can catalyze inner transformation or awakening from one person to another.
Program: a set of related measures or activities with a particular long-term aim. A series of coded instructions to control the operation of a computer or other machine.
Star: A famous or exceptionally talented performer in the world of entertainment or sports. A celestial body, especially a planet, regarded as influencing someone's fortunes or personality.
In biblical imagery, "stars" are symbols of angels (Revelation 1:20). Satan took one third of the angels of heaven with him in his rebellion, (Revelation 12:4, 9).
Idol: An image or representation of a god used as an object of worship.
Los Angeles: Los Angeles got its name from the Spanish phrase El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río Porciúncula, which translates to "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of the River Porciúncula". The name was later shortened to Los Angeles, which means "The Angels" in Spanish.
A volunteer organization made up of lay men and women, The Queen of Angels Foundation is the official sponsor of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' annual celebration of the official 1781 founding of the City of Los Angeles as a city named in honour of Mary whom Catholics revere as Queen of Heaven (and of Angels).
The Academy Awards are a series of awards given annually to recognize achievements in the film industry. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents the awards, which are considered to be the most prestigious in the film industry.
Also known as the Oscars. Oscar is a boy's name that means "God spear," "deer-lover," or "champion warrior." The name derives from the Gaelic and in Irish folklore, Oscar was one of the mightiest warriors. Among his mighty deeds, Oscar is known for killing Sinsar, one of several invaders in Gaelic stories known as "King of the World". Similarly, Satan, who considers himself the rightful ruler of the Earth (Matthew 4:8-9) who lead the Jews and Romans to crucify Jesus, the rightful ruler of this world (Psalm 47:6-8; 1 Timothy 6:15).
Entertainment: To provide (someone) with amusement or enjoyment; receive (someone) as a guest and provide them with food and drink; give attention or consideration to an idea, suggestion, or feeling. From entertain, originally meaning to maintain, hold, or keep (someone) in certain frame of mind.
